Dr Tania Velez is FMCSA certified as a Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Examiner to perform DOT Physical exams in Orlando, Florida.
The DOT Physical is meant to make sure drivers are safe on the road and medical conditions do not create a safety hazard while driving.

Please bring your Drivers License, medication list and DOT Physical Form (MCSA-5875) with your portion filled out. You can download the form at shorturl.at/cdimp.

Dr Velez will review your blood pressure, medical history, and medication list. We will check your vision, hearing and collect a urine sample to check the urine for things like sugar in urine that can be indicative of diabetes. Dr Velez will also perform a general physical exam. The purpose of this physical is to make sure your health does not jeopardize your safety on the road.

If you do not pass the medical exam, Dr Velez will review with you what would be needed to pass. In some instances, a temporary certification can be given so that you may continue to drive until the issue is addressed. Dr Velez is a Family Medicine physician and can help guide you as to the appropriate care needed.

No, insurances do not cover DOT Physicals.

A DOT physical exam is valid for up to 24 months. The medical examiner may also issue a medical examiner's certificate for less than 24 months when it is desirable to monitor a condition, such as high blood pressure.
