Beat the Heat

Summer is Here!

Summer weather has already begun in Florida and we will definitely feel it this week with heat index up to 104 degrees. The heat can be very dangerous for our health and can cause Heat Exhaustion or Heat Stroke. See the infographics below for information on how to stay safe in this heat and how to recognize signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Recognizing these symptoms can safe your life or someone else. One last thing I would add is to make sure you drink electrolytes as well or make sure you are also eating when drinking a lot of water. Avoid high sugar sports drinks and instead look for a no sugar added or naturally sweetened electrolyte drink, powder, or no sugar added coconut water to replenish the electrolytes such as salt, potassium and magnesium that we lose as we sweat. High humidity equals lots of sweating.
