Covid Testing
UPDATED 9/22/2020
If you have been exposed to Covid-19 or are having symptoms of Covid-19, please isolate yourself and only leave home for medical treatment and/or testing. For further guidance please make a televideo appointment by calling or texting 407-530-6591.
There are plenty of locations throughout the state of Florida and in Central Florida to be tested for Covid 19. Given the recent surge in cases you may experience longer than usual wait time. Most locations provide the test at no cost to you, even if uninsured. Some locations do require an appointment and/or a physicians order.
If you are having symptoms of Covid-19 please call us at 407-530-6591 for a televideo appointment or go to your closest urgent care location.

The Covid swabs can have False Negatives, especially in the asymptomatic phase or the further out from initial infection. I recommend that you isolate as soon as you begin having symptoms. Best time period to test is typically around 3 days after having symptoms or at least 5-7 days after exposure if you are asymptomatic. General precautions such as wearing a mask, social distancing and frequent hand washing is still advised if you test negative and isolating from others for at least 14 days if you think you have been exposed even if you test negative. While waiting for results or if you are having Covid symptoms- please quarantine from others and only venture out if medical attention is needed.
Antibody testing is available via Quest , Labcorp, Aventus (see above) or at the Orange County Convention Center. You can order an antibody test for yourself through Quest Diagnostics here and the cost is $119. If you wish to have your physician order an antibody test in order to run it through insurance you will need to make an appointment with your doctor. It is recommended to wait about 3 weeks after resolution of symptoms to test for antibodies. This will give the body some time to develop the antibody response.
As with the Covid swabs, the antibody tests are also NOT 100% accurate. There is a slight chance of false positive due to cross reaction with other coronaviruses (what causes common cold), and a chance of false negative. We also do not know if antibodies to Covid means that you are “immune” or not yet. The reason for this testing is to gather as much data as possible in order to be able to draw these conclusions later. The more data we have the more we can analyze and the more we will know in the future.
